If you are used to staying in a hotel during your vacation overseas, this time around why not try something new? Go for a vacation rental.
Hotels do have their advantages, especially if you plan to stay in a particular place just for a short period of time, or if you need room service, daily housekeeping, and other services. However, the above are also available along with other perks when you go for a vacation rental.
With sites such as airbnb and 9flats, booking a vacation rental has never been easier. We outline tips to choosing a good vacation rental, and tell you the advantages of spending a vacation in one:
- Get a rental with enough space and privacy
When looking for a vacation rental, make sure that the rooms available and the living space and the compound are enough to fit you and your family.

Your ideal rental should give you enough kitchen space to cook any food you want, a laundry room for you to take care of the dirty laundry, and a living room with a T.V for you to catch up with the best shows.
The privacy here will truly make you feel as if you are at home away from home.
- Get a rental that has access to recreational facilities
You cannot afford to go on holiday and not get to spend time at the beach, at the swimming pool, playing tennis, engaging in any athletic activities of your choice, or even spending time at a spa or steam bath.

Although most of these are available in the best hotels, you can get a vacation rental in a resort that will give you access to every facility you want.
- Get an affordable vacation rental
Depending on your research and your preferences, you can get very expensive vacation rentals, where you can live like royalty, or you can get a rental where you can make huge savings on your budget.

The biggest price determinant is access to luxurious amenities, high-class recreational facilities, and the location of the rental. In most cases, you will realize that a vacation rental will be much more cost effective compared to a hotel where visitors have access to the same facilities and environment.
- Get a rental with a convenient rent schedule

In most cases, vacation rental owners require visitors to hire their properties for at least a week, and the rent schedules are usually quite strict. However, these days, it is possible to get rentals that have less strict schedules, though the longer you spend in a vacation rental, the more economical it is for you.
- Get a rental where you can hold private functions
The number of people you decide to go with on a vacation rental does not really matter, since you will be paying for the facility, and not per head, as is the case with a hotel.

This will give you the privilege of enjoying group activities, bonfires, all night parties, or hold small ceremonies without having to pay extra.
